Overview

The Aurora Cultural Centre invites applications for an Associate Mentorship in Performing Arts Programming to support our action to better serve communities we have not yet fully served.  The contract role will report to the Performing Arts Programmer, and work in close collaboration with programming, communications and administrative staff.

About the Aurora Cultural Centre

Since 2010, the Centre has welcomed the community to create and participate in diverse experiences for all ages. We proudly program four vibrant gallery exhibition spaces, a range of instructional classes for children, teens and adults, an eclectic live music series, special family events and summer arts camps.

Location: The Aurora Cultural Centre is committed to adhere to public health safety guidelines for our employees and families, and all team members continue to work remotely. This position may require the Performing Arts Mentorship position to meet virtual, have office hours in office location (currently Aurora Town Hall) and in person with community members.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the production of 2022-2023 season of programming

  • Supporting and collaborating on programming decisions for the 2023-2024 season

  • Artist support including transportation, hospitality and rider fulfillment

  • Contracting duties

  • Programming research

  • Producing the 2023-2024 professional programming season launch in August

Requirements: 

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Organizational skills and superior attention to detail

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, OneDrive, Outlook as asset

  • Enthusiasm and creativity

  • Ability to work in a virtual setting individually

  • A collaborator who can be supportive of and work with a team

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Interest in and some knowledge of the entertainment industries’ trends and developments

  • Ability to maintain project schedule and fulfill demanding deadlines

  • Team player, but willing to take ownership when necessary

  • Able to present, facilitate and support conversations moving forward

Education and Work Experience:

  • Experience and/or education in performing arts.  Artist can be in any stage of their career.

  • Knowledge of programming for families/elementary school-aged children an asset

  • Can be a recent graduate or currently enrolled in a university degree or college diploma in artistic practice for performing arts field.

  • Work experience, either in the arts or in roles, which show organizational skills and effective communication to build meaningful outcomes an asset.

Salary: 
$1,500/month
Term: 

8-month contract | May – December 2023

Additional Info: 

Fee:

$1,500/month Contractor role as a fee for service. Contractor provides their own equipment and defines the hours to complete the role in collaboration with the Performing Arts Producer.  It is expected that the contractor will dedicate part time hours (flexible 15-20 hours) per week to this role.

Office Hours at 8:30am – 4:30pm with meetings and events typically after hours and on weekends.  Contractor must be available to dedicate at least one workday per week to connect with programming and administrative staff, and attend performing arts programs in evenings and weekends.

 

Additional information:

A criminal record search will be required of the successful candidate that is acceptable to the Aurora Cultural Centre. The successful candidate is required to be fully vaccinated and follow any other health protocols in place during the contract to participate in person with the Aurora Cultural Centre.
