Job Responsibilities: To provide technical support for live events at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts and other locations.
Specific Duties include:
- Setting up and operating lighting, audio, video systems for events at the Oakville Centre
- Loading and unloading of trucks
- Assembly and setup of staging systems
- General cleaning and maintenance on technical equipment and facilities.
- Creating effective lighting for events
- Hanging, cabling, and focusing theatrical lighting
- Operation of follow spotlights
- Operation of Strand Light Palette lighting consoles
- Operation of Soundcraft Vi4, Yamaha LS9 and Yamaha analogue audio consoles
- Operation of a scissor lift
- Operation of a single purchase counterweight fly system
- Painting of the stage floor and other equipment
- Some basic building maintenance as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate shall have a college diploma or other recognized technical qualification specializing in technical theatre or production for live events and a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a professional environment or the equivalent work experience. Experience working in a roadhouse environment is an asset.
The successful candidate will have the following skills:
- A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- The ability to work under pressure to strict time lines
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills
- Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
Knowledge and experience with several of the following systems is required:
- Computerized lighting control systems (Strand Light Palette), automated lighting fixtures, LED lighting instruments and stage effects
- Theatrical lighting including the hanging and focusing of conventional lighting fixtures
- Theatrical audio systems including analogue consoles, digital consoles and wireless microphone systems in live performance settings
- SFX audio software
- Counterweight fly systems
- Stage carpentry including the assembly and installation of scenery
- Valid certification for the operation of an electric scissor lift and fall arrest training are an asset.
