“The Town of Parry Sound is delighted to welcome the 2016 Spring Retreat to the Charles W. Stockey Centre for Performing Arts.  Located directly on Georgian Bay, the view of the sunset from our deck never disappoints.   Bring your walking shoes along as we are situated on one of the most amazing waterfront walking trails in Ontario.  With an excellent agenda planned, a spectacular location, along with engaged participants, this Spring Retreat promises to be a great experience for all attendees.”

Agenda

With members’ input we’ve selected the best available dates: June 21, 22 and 23, with late afternoon check-in on Tuesday, the 21st and depart after lunch on Thursday, the 23rd.

We will start the retreat on Tuesday night with a dinner by the bay and casual conversations over drinks. Wednesday we will engage in a facilitated professional development sessions including Marketing Workshop for Presenters and the Evolution of Presenting Practice presentation with Brian McCurdy that emerged from our Community Engagement discussion at the 2013 Retreat and Bold Ideas discussion last year.

On Wednesday night, members will have a chance to enjoy a delightful dinner cruise amongst the 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay. This 2 ½ hour cruise explores the majestic waterways of the Big Sound, spectacular summer cottages, resorts, the granite bluffs of Hole-in-the-Wall and numerous islands, returning to view Parry Sound’s glowing skyline.

Thursday morning we will continue marketing workshop and focus on specific topics you wanted to address while sharing Ontario Presents updates.

As always, members will have ample opportunity to bring forward ideas and concerns for discussion and most importantly, the time to enjoy each other company in a relaxing setting. More information and detailed schedule to follow.

“The Spring Retreat is a great way to get to know your Ontario Presents colleagues in a less formal setting. So often we see each other in passing at events, conferences and showcases, with barely enough time for a few words before hurrying off. The Spring Retreat captures and expands these moments, affording opportunities to connect and learn from one another.” - Sam Varteniuk, General Manager, Registry Theatre

Marketing Workshop for Presenters: After the data… using what you know in everyday marketing

Designed to share some great developments in marketing that our colleagues in Kingston and at the Sony Centre have experienced, we would really like to encourage presenters to bring your marketing staff.

Facilitated by Julie Fossitt, Marketing Manager, Cultural Services, City of Kingston and Mary Ann Farrell, Director of Marketing, Communications & Development, Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, the workshop will take place on Wednesday, June 22, from 1 pm until 5 pm, followed by the round table discussion on Thursday morning. This workshop will take place concurrently with the main agenda.

Using data from Environics Analytics, Ontario Presents has been able to assist many presenters to figure out who their audience is, what types of products they consume, how far they travel to get to the theatre and what types of people live around the theatre. But how does this translate into marketing planning and execution?
