Job Description: 

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a permanent full-time Coordinator, Box Office & Front Of House at the Chatham Capitol Theatre. The Coordinator, Box Office & Front of House, is responsible for running a customer-focused and financially sustainable box office as well as providing leadership for box office and Front of House staff and volunteers. This includes supervision, scheduling, and training part-time staff and volunteers, promoting and administering the CKTickets sales platform, developing new revenue opportunities for box office and ticketing services, overseeing financial reconciliations and cash management, and providing excellent customer service in support of the Manager, Chatham Capitol Theatre. This position participates on the Manager/Supervisor Team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction, supervision, and motivation for a team consisting of non-union part-time box office employees, House Managers, and Front of House volunteers
  • Coordinate day-to-day box office operations
  • Monitor and recommend all budget allocations and processes for box office budget lines
  • Develop, promote, and serve as primary administrator for CKTickets as a ticket selling service platform to interested user groups and Capitol Theatre events
  • Increase use of CKTickets and the box office by responding to all inquiries, proactively selling services, and building and maintaining customer relations
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer service issues
  • Research, analyze, identify, and recommend new opportunities that would increase revenue generation opportunities for the box office
  • Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve Front of House and box office operations and minimize operating costs
  • Arrange staffing requirements for events at the request of the Manager, Chatham Capitol Theatre or client groups
  • Assist with the recruitment, scheduling, training, and administration of box office and Front of House staff and volunteers
  • Develop and maintain an available pool of Front of House positions where necessary
  • Oversee the cash handling and inventory procedures for Front of House services, ticket attendants, bars, coat check, merchandising etc; responsible for all Front of House and box office floats and reconciliations
  • Prepare financial settlement reports and oversee cash handling procedures
  • Act as main contact for all aspects of ticketing including communication with clients in order to gather necessary information to prepare tickets for sale, gathering information for website, and keeping box office staff up to date on event details
  • Recognize event details that may affect other service areas within the Municipality and communicate
  • Maintain box office customer database and act as lead contact for database management
  • Liaise with other division staff as necessary including Chatham Cultural Centre and Kiwanis Theatre
  • Monitor Health and Safety and report any issues and concerns

 

Other responsibilities:

  • May act as back-up for box office or Front of House during surges in business or absences
Requirements: 

Essential Qualifications:

Ability to demonstrate Chatham-Kent’s Core Values and Competencies through a combination of education and experience: 

  • College certificate or diploma with two to four years of related experience; or an equivalent of related education and experience
  • Experience working in a Theatre environment
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Experience handling cash
  • Working knowledge of TixHub or similar integrated ticketing software
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and internet (or other similar software programs)
  • All new employees will be required to complete their Health & Safety and other on-line mandatory training on or before their first day of employment; other training (including Health & Safety policies) may also be required

 

Certifications, Memberships, Licenses:

  • Health & Safety Competency training is required within 6 months of hire date and will be maintained through refresher training once every 4 years

 

Other Manager/Supervisor Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of current issues facing local government in Ontario, and particularly as they relate to the portfolio
  • Extensive leadership experience in municipal or broader public, private or voluntary sector environments
  • Extensive senior level experience with significant scope, complexity, and diversity of operations in a public or private sector environment
  • Knowledge of human resources management, financial management, project management strategies 
Salary: 
This permanent full-time position has an annual wage range of $50,390 to $56,985 (based on grade 6 of the 2017 non-union full-time compensation plan), plus health & dental benefits following the successful completion of a 90 day probationary period.
