The Capitol Centre is a 932-seat multi-disciplinary performance arts centre in North Bay, Ontario which operates as a not-for-profit organization in a community of 54,000 and beyond.  This multi-use facility is a regional hub for arts and culture, is home to both the Betty Speers Theatre and WKP Kennedy Gallery, and offers diverse and accessible arts and entertainment programming from around the world.

The Capitol Centre is seeking a Director of Programming and Events to oversee and manage theatre performance bookings, festivals, and special event rentals that meet the Capitol Centre’s artistic, financial, and audience goals.

You are passionate about arts and culture and are a connoisseur of entertainment – able to entice the big stars to our Northern Ontario stage while also discovering and introducing new and emerging talent to patrons. Adaptable and team oriented, the Director of Programming and Events will report to the Executive Director and will work as part of a dedicated team in an environment where creativity is encouraged.

Our Requirements:

A knowledge of a wide range of performing arts including music, comedy, dance, theatre and family shows in required. Essential, is a thorough understanding of negotiating and scheduling performances, preparation of contracts, and budgeting. Additional experience in community engagement and marketing would be considered an asset. Our ideal candidate will have a network of contacts within the industry both nationally and internationally. Preferred candidates will have two to five years of program management experience in the music, performing arts, festival and/or special events sectors. A completed university degree or college diploma with a focus on arts and culture would be an asset. Successful candidates must also have strong computer skills, particularly using spreadsheets (Excel).

Salary: 
Remuneration commensurate with experience.
