The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is looking for a dynamic professional with an extensive background in arts marketing and development and who demonstrates a high level of experience and understanding of all facets of arts marketing and promotions, as well as fundraising strategies for the performing arts.  The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.  Incumbent will be a creative thinker and a strong team player.
 
THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting directly to and working closely with the Executive Director, the Marketing and Development Manager will be engaged in all aspects of the company’s marketing and development efforts and will have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities - Marketing: 

  • Plan and implement all marketing campaigns within an annual budget to generate maximum participation, attendance and ticket sales
  • Strategize individual promotional plans for each performance and event in the Season
  • Prepare and disseminate press releases and solicit interviews and articles
  • With BPAC’s graphic designer, manage the production of all marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, newsletters, ads (print and digital) and house programs
  • Coordinate the dissemination of all marketing materials (mailings, postering etc.) and plan all lobby displays
  • With the Marketing Coordinator, develop and implement all digital marketing strategies
  • Analyze and report on tickets sales vs marketing campaigns, and ongoing marketing expenses
  • Work within the community on promotions and strategic marketing partnerships
  • Produce and maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date catalogue of marketing materials including photos, videos, reviews, biographies and repertory information
  • Track and document accurate attendance numbers for grants and other reports

Responsibilities - Development 

  • Participate in the planning of annual and long-term development strategies working towards increasing revenue and broadening the donor base (individual, corporate and foundation)
  • Focus on cultivating and acquiring new annual members, sponsors and donors 
  • Prepare sponsorship and foundation proposals/materials as required
  • Assist with grant applications as required, particularly the collection and tracking of statistical information
  • Represents organization at all member, donor and sponsor-related events
Requirements: 
  • A related college or university degree + 3 - 5 years’ work experience in marketing and development, preferably in the arts industry
  • The ability to think creatively, work independently, lead a small team and take initiative
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines in a small, fast-paced work environment
  • Proficiency with the following software:  Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint); Adobe Suite of programs; Constant Contact or Mailchimp
  • Experience with database management 
  • A knowledge of and passion for the performing arts
Salary: 
$70,000 to $75,000 (negotiable). In addition there is a generous and comprehensive pension and benefits package.
Term: 
Standard hours of work will be 40 hours per week.  The position requires flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends during performance periods.
