Job Description: 

Reporting to the Manger, Cultural Services, this position is responsible for the planning, operation, budgeting, and evaluation of the business administration for theatre operations at the First Ontario Arts Centre Milton (FOACM) in compliance with Town policies and procedures. This position provides oversight for the FOACM performance season along with; leadership for arts and gallery program planning; collaborates with community organizations to address gaps in service; and supports new initiatives to enhance the Town’s arts programs and services guided by the Council approved Culture Plan.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Acts as a liaison for FOACM with Ontario Presents (Ontario Performing Arts Presenting Network) and agencies to research and prepare recommendations for the FOACM performance season 
  • Provides management oversight for box office/front of house operations including the scheduling and permitting of FOACM rentals and concessions and bar operations at FOACM 
  • Manages and maintains collaborative positive client relationships 
  • Facilitates client meetings in order to understand event needs and assess levels of support with relation to technical operations, front of house, marketing, and ticketing services 
  • Oversees adherence to contractual obligations stipulated by shows in FOACM performance season, including coordination of rider 
  • Provides input and support into community engagement strategies including audience development at FOACM 
  • Works with Communications & Customer Experience to develop marketing and sales materials to achieve program and event objectives 
  • Oversees the planning and implementation of arts programs for schools and community 
  • Oversees the planning and implementation of the gallery program, including allocation of gallery spaces, Town hosted exhibitions, and the supervision of gallery volunteers 
  • Builds and maintains relationships with local community organizations, regional service providers and community agencies that provide Milton residents with recreation and cultural programs and services 
  • Provides oversight for the facilitation of the ArtSparks program and the execution of Culture Plan related initiatives 
  • Leads and/or participates in planning studies to assess, inform, and define future plans, etc.) 
  • Supervises and provides guidance/leadership to full-time and part-time employees, and volunteers; responsible for the hiring, training, performance management and coaching/mentoring of full-time program employees and oversees the same for part-time program employees 
  • Prepares, recommends, monitors, controls and reports on the budget to ensure fiscal responsibility and that budget targets and service objectives are being met 
Requirements: 

Education and Experience 

  • Five (5) or more years progressive supervisory experience in a municipal, recreational, or cultural setting. 
  • Three (3) or more years of contract negotiation and administration experience booking of professional performing artists 
  • Experience within the arts/entertainment sector including performance facilities, programming and audience development 
  • A strong awareness and understanding for the business administration of theatre operations 
  • Municipal theatre experience an asset 
  • Experience working with arts and culture volunteer groups and organizations 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and provide superior customer service 
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills 
  • Knowledge of Tix Hub ticketing software 
  • Proficiency in Recreation Management Software, financial/budgeting software and Human Resources Information System (HRIS) software 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
Salary: 
$94,714 - $118,393
