Do you want your unique artistic vision to be shared across Ontario and Quebec? Would you like more access to networks of presenters and to spaces for your work to be seen? Do you want to strengthen your distribution and marketing tools?

Who we are:

Presentation networks La danse sur les routes du Québec and Ontario Presents, along with The CanDance Network are collaborating with Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) dance artist, Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo, and experienced presenter and arts manager, Lee Bolton, on a new project to promote the work of dance artists from Indigenous and racialized communities through coaching, facilitating communications, and organizing meetings between the artists and presenters in Ontario and Québec.

The Project:

In the spirit of reconciliation and with the desire to increase representation of Québec and Ontario artists who self-identify as members of an Indigenous nation or a racialized community, artists will be chosen to follow this free program from July through December of 2019. The artists will receive assistance through individual consultations, conference calls, marketing advice, promotional material development networking opportunities, and peer sharing, to help support their artistic vision/practice and inform presenters of their work.

We will work with presenters to familiarize them about alternative/diverse/different cultural approaches, methods, and views of dance. The intention is to cultivate new connections, understanding and relationships between these dance artists and presenters.

Criteria for this Program:

  • Dance artists self-identify as members of Indigenous and racialized communities
  • Artists must reside in either Ontario or Quebec
  • Artists have work, either completed or in progress, of at least 20 minutes length
  • Artists have a desire to tour their work in Ontario and Québec
  • Artists must commit to working with the project for the full duration
  • Artists must be available for a trip to Montreal Nov. 25-29, 2019 for a meeting with presenters. (travel expenses paid by the project)
