Congratulations to Deb Slade on her latest achievements!

On behalf of the entire network, Ontario Presents would like to extend congratulations to our long time member, Debbie Slade, on her latest achievements.

As a retiring director of the Centre for the Arts at Brock University, Deb has programmed more than 1,400 performances during her 25+ years with the Centre.

As she says goodbye to the organization, she was presented the Making a Difference Award at the annual St. Catharines Arts Awards for a lifetime promoting the arts in the city.

She says she could not do it alone.

“I could not have done the things I have done without the amazing people I have had around me, making it possible.”

The Centre for the Arts will be folded into the new FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre downtown St. Catharines and will be helmed by Steve Solski.

“I think with a new centre and new energy, the new director really needs a chance to put his own stamp on it,” said Slade.

Throughout her illustrious career, Deb’s contributions enriched the Niagara region and turned the Centre into Niagara’s Cultural Treasure. To honour her contributions, she is also chosen to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 15th Annual Women in Business Awards, hosted by the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce on June 19th, 2015. Since 2000, the Women in Business Awards have been honouring enterprising women whose businesses and community contributions have made a significant difference in the region, and in the lives of Niagarans.

Deb is one of charter founding members and directors of CCI/Ontario Presents. She served a 2nd 6-year term on the board from 2001 to 2007. Her numerous awards also include Presenter of the Year Award, CCI/Ontario Presents (2011) and CAPACOA (2012).
