Thank you so much for joining us at our second Spotlight Session on January 20th, 2023 from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. with Ruth Burns, Executive Director of Ontario Culture Days.

In this session, Executive Director Ruth Burns gave an overview of the Ontario Culture Days approach to leading a province-wide festival, and its strategy for audience development and community engagement. Ruth will delve into ONCD’s cultural tourism strategy, and how it has informed the organization’s approach to partnership building with tourism and arts organizations alike.

The Ontario Culture Days Festival has seen a substantial growth in its audience since 2017 to 2022, growing from 4% of the Ontario population to over 10%. In 2022, the free festival featured over 1,000 registered events in 86 municipalities with top event tags including Visual Arts, Music, Performance, History and Heritage. The festival was made possible thanks to the participation of 432 independent organisers. Top organiser types included Municipalities or Local Government, Performing Arts Companies or Organisations, Libraries, Community Group/Center and Museums.
