Canada Council for the Arts

The Canada Council for the Arts is a national arm’s-length agency which fosters the development of the arts in Canada through grants, services and awards to professional Canadian artists and arts organizations, as well as administering scholarly awards, and having under its aegis the Public Lending Right Commission and the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. This website lists grant information and application procedures for all areas of the arts.

Canadian Centre for Philanthropy offers members a directory to Foundations and Grants, information on publications, and links the National Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating [NSGVP On-line], to the Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code and to the non-profit information source. An invaluable resource for fundraising.

This is a membership association of grant-making foundations and corporations. It specially aids organizations in the daily business of providing grants. It offers a job bank, workshops and conferences on grants.

Laidlaw Foundation

The Laidlaw Foundation uses its resources to strengthen the environment for children, youth and families, to enhance opportunities for human development and creativity and to sustain healthy communities and ecosystems. Their annual report can be downloaded as well as information and applications regarding the Youth Engagement Programme.

Ministry of Culture

The Ministry of Culture encourages the arts and cultural industries, protects Ontario’s heritage and advances the public library system in order to maximize their contribution to the province’s economic and social vitality. The ministry implements strategies to promote and market Ontario’s cultural and heritage attractions to realize their full economic potential. It works with local communities and cultural agencies to preserve Ontario’s culture and heritage.

Ontario Arts Council

The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is an arms length agency of the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation that supports artists and organizations in Ontario through grants, awards and services. This site offers a complete listing and application procedures on the granting programmes available to all areas of the arts. In addition, full information regarding private funds given to the Ontario Arts Council Foundation, grants and scholarships and OAC publications can be found on this site.

Ontario Arts Foundation

The Foundation was established in 1991 under the Ontario Corporations Act as a not for profit corporation, with the purpose of encouraging and facilitating private giving to the arts in Ontario.  It is a non-government foundation and is a registered charity.
