Job Description: 

Responsible for executing a variety of communications functions for the Performing Arts Centre (PAC) including maintenance of website and social media presence, production of content for internal and external promotional tools, media relations and other key influencers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write, edit, develop and distribute written communication tools such as press releases, promotional copy, presentations, speeches, newsletters to support organization within the parameters of established brand standards.
  • Edit, proofread and revise supplied communications.
  • Assist in the development of public relations strategies including identifying target      media, pitching and securing interviews and positive editorial coverage.
  • Develop media relations through liaising with and responding to requests from members of the media.
  • Assist in the scheduling and arrangement of press conferences and media events.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and implementation of social media strategies to increase the social media presence of the PAC.
  • Develop story-telling written content for use on multiple platforms.
  • Identify and stay abreast of current technology trends including evolving social media.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of external communication strategies to support corporate strategy and measuring ROI of communications.
  • Develop links and coordinate ongoing communications with the performing arts community and broader community at large to stimulate awareness and engage existing and new audiences.
  • Keep all communications tools up to date (website, social media, external events      listings, etc.)
  • Assist with the distribution of marketing materials including brochures, posters and magazines.
  • Take photographs for online galleries and promotional use. Collect, share and      archive all media coverage and promotional materials.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as required.
Requirements: 
  • College Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related      discipline.
  • Two (2) years current experience in communications preferably in a performing arts, culture or entertainment environment with an appreciation of the arts and an understanding of how to promote various disciplines.
  • Knowledge of digital photography and familiarity with Canadian Press Style, web content management, website utility and statistical reporting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas clearly to media and public and the ability to represent the Centre as spokesperson when required.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven customer service skills with the ability to liaison with key external and internal stakeholders with diplomacy and demonstrated experience in effective media relations.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and current web design software (eg. Adobe Creative Suite etc.) with demonstrated knowledge and experience with major social media platforms (eg. Facebook, Twitter,      Instagram, Google + etc.).
  • Availability to work flexible hours.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s licence, Class “G”, with a clean driving record.
Salary: 
Rate of Pay – Pay Group 6 – Under Review Minimum $46,009 annually; Maximum $51,103 annually (2014 rates)
