Job Description: 

As a part of a pilot program in skills development for dance presentation, the person selected will play a coordination and liaison
role between four artists who self-identify as members of an Indigenous nation or a racialized community and dance presenters
from the three partner organizations. Inspired by the success of Jouer Dehors, this program is an initiative of The CanDance
Network, La Danse sur les routes du Québec and Ontario Presents. This project is made possible with the support of the
Québec–Ontario Cultural Exchange Program.

Roles, Responsibilities, and Tasks

Coaching and training (70%)
In collaboration with the artists selected:

  • Establish an environment that respects the cultural and aesthetic sensibilities of participants
  • Evaluate the needs and objectives of each artist
  • Develop individualized booking strategies
  • Coach the participants in the design of promotional materials (drafting, visual aspects, etc.)
  • Lead a collaborative work platform on Facebook.
  • Develop and lead workshops on presentation for artists
  • Develop and lead workshops for presenters
  • Participate in relevant contact events with artists

Coordination (30%)

  • Organize and develop a work plan tied to the program objectives
  • Develop a network of contacts and relevant partners
  • Contribute to the drafting of reports and the assessment of results
  • Develop and adapt working tools to support the participants
  • Recommend program sustainability strategies

 

Conditions

  • Contract of 25 hours per month over an eight-month period
  • Work from one of our partner offices in Montreal or Toronto
  • Remote work is possible
  • Salary to be discussed based on experience
Requirements: 

Required experience and training:

  • Work experience with artists who self-identify as members of an Indigenous nation or racialized communities
  • Experience as a performing arts presenter or as a booking agent
  • Training in the management of arts and culture organizations, or a related field (asset)
  • Knowledge of the contemporary dance environment (asset)

Required skills and competencies:

  • Skilled at developing relationships, sharing knowledge and establishing trusting relationships
  • Knowledge of written and spoken French and English
  • Mastery of leading software platforms

To be discussed based on experience
Term:
