April 13, 2016
April 10 to April 16, 2016 is National Volunteer Week (NVW), a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 12.7 million volunteers!
Based on statistics, about 900,000 Canadians volunteered in arts and culture organizations in 2013. The 896,000 arts and culture volunteers represent 7% of all 12.7 million volunteers in Canada. Arts and culture volunteers contribute more hours, on average, than volunteers in any other type of organization. The equivalent of 56,000 jobs were volunteered by 900,000 Canadians in arts and culture organizations in 2013.
In honour of Canada’s National Volunteer Week, Ontario Presents is pleased to recognize the work of Ontario’s volunteer arts presenters who work year-round to bring the very best in the live performing arts to their communities. In doing so, these volunteers enrich the lives of their fellow citizens and deeply engage them in live performance arts experiences that open their minds to our shared world.
